Let's praise God with some poetry!

Postby Madeleine » Mon Jul 12, 2004 12:02 pm

Let's use our gifts to glorify God. If you have a poem or a limerick about the Lord, let's read it!

I'll start things off by writing a quick poem here:

Glory to our Father in Heaven
Who is with us every day
He sends His Holy Spirit down
To guide us all the way

Let us worship our Father
Through our Lord Jesus Christ
Who was crucified for us
That we may have eternal life

So what are we waiting for?
We can be freed from all our sin
Let's glorify the Lord our God
And put our faith in Him
"Don't be fooled by the gash in his side... 'cause we know that Jesus is alive!"

Thanks Omega!

Yes, I've written lots of poems... and I think it's about time I started devoting some of them to God.

I will be writing more on here and I look forward to reading some that other people write perhaps?

Your welcome Sister in Christ!
If its the will of God then we should see poems from others, unfotunately I utterly suck at poetry! But Love to hear it!

God Bless!

I'm going to write another one :D

If ever you're feeling sad and alone
There's just one thing you need to know
There's no need for you to frown
Or let the cares of this world start to get you down
Just think about the one who saved us
And gave his life for our salvation
Remember this, you know it's true
Jesus Christ the Lord loves you!
"Don't be fooled by the gash in his side... 'cause we know that Jesus is alive!"

It is nice to see other fellow Christians sharing their poetry. I am newbie so forgive my English, I was born in Cuba and came to USA in 1995. I have written some poetry also and I would love to share it with you if you allow me to do so.

Here is one of my favorite poems

HERE I AM

But they that wait upon the LORD,
shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings as eagles;
they shall run, and not be weary;
and they shall walk, and not faint.

Isaiah 40:31

Father here I am, your son,
lift me up in the presence of my enemies.
Cover me with your arms, and heal my broken heart.

You are my only hope, Oh LORD,
give me strength to fulfill your call.
My soul sings praises to Thee, my Lord
with joy and adoration.

My eyes have seen your mercies
cover the lives of many of your creations.
My heart races toward your arms like a child
races toward his father.

Your Glory engulfs my soul and your light
shines in my path.
My foot shall not abandon your trail
and if I wander outside of it,
your hand will lead me back.

Your wings surround me, protecting my soul against
the fury of the fallen one.

Your voice awakens my hope, increasing my faith
and soothing my pains.

Glory to Thee, Oh LORD, My God.
Seek and ye shall find. Ask and ye shall receive. JESUS

Hi there, nice to see you on this forum! I haven't seen Desert Fox around here, but he might come on at some point if he has time.

That's a fantastic poem  and there are no mistakes in your English!

Well, God has sure given His people many gifts. You all have a beautiful way with words.
I'm a bodybuilder (hence the name LadyBuilder), but no matter how strong or fast I am; I am nothing without the Lord Jesus!

Thanks for all your kind comments

This is another poem that I wrote and I really love. Situations of this world and decadence in some institutions of the church motivated me to write this poem.

SO THEN BECAUSE THOU ART LUKEWARM,
AND NEITHER COLD NOR HOT,
I WILL SPUE THEE OUT OF MY MOUTH.

Revelation 3:16

I AM WAITING FOR YOU

What has happened to you my bride?
Who has cursed you this way?
Why is there no longer the fear of thy Lord in your heart?
Why are you turning to the world for your needs?
Why am I standing outside your door?
Why aren’t you answering my calls?

So many programs, so many ministries,
So many shows, so many services,
But I am still standing at your door
And you forgot to let me in.

Open your eyes, remove the blindfold,
There is only one way to Heaven.
Why are you going back to your old ways?
Why are you casting my words
Into the abyss of irrelevant things?
Why are you sitting at the table with the scorners of your Savior?
Why are you trading my peace for the worldly chaos?
Why have you forsaken me after the lust
Of the flesh, my precious bride?
Why are you following the designs of the evil one?
Get your lamp ready before I return.
The final trumpet is about to sound one last time.
The wrath of my Father is at hand.
This world will pay for its sins.

Come back to me, my bride,
My arms are waiting for you.
My door is open,
Will you come in?
Seek and ye shall find. Ask and ye shall receive. JESUS

Another wonderful poem there! :)

I think I will write a quick poem.

Here we are, down on this Earth
But God's all the way up there
But though it seems as if we cannot reach Him
There's no need to despair

God has built a bridge for us
He has shown us the way
He gave His son to save us from sin
So that we could be with Him some day

The Son of God will come again
He will reign over everything
Everyone will be saying,
"Jesus - you're the King."

We will be totally freed from sin
And released from Satan's trap
For Jesus takes our sin away
NOW HOW COOL IS THAT?
"Don't be fooled by the gash in his side... 'cause we know that Jesus is alive!"

My wife wrote this one.

"A Sheep Without His Shepherd"

You shut your eyes and danced around
and let the blaring music take you.
Faked a strut and cocksure ego;
hoped a fool would want to be you.

You've drunk into ten dozen stupors,
restless sleep in empty bottles.
Dreamt the pain would slowly deaden
in the gin-filled tub in which you coddled.

You've lost yourself inside a pipe
to smoke away your stressful thoughts,
but found that deafening haze
could not silence the guilt you've wrought.

You've jumped from bed to bed
with almost anyone who'd have you.
Never stopped to really love them,
just to feed on what they gave you.

You never cared if it was real,
of faceless babies in your wake,
only how they made you feel.
You never left more than you'd take.

You never cared of those you injured.
You just lashed out with hateful spite
at all the people that would hinder
what you'd thought was your birthright.

Surely there's someone to blame
for all your burden, grief, and woe.
Some phantom villain holds you back,
of course, your counselor told you so.

You tried to turn to straying sheep
to help you calculate your worth,
but wandering boys and vapid girls
have only served to salt your earth.

You've gone tumbling into darkness,
falling free without a net.
There's just one question I must ask you...
Tell me, are you having fun yet?

Tried to fill your soul with vapor,
burning through much sin and vice,
and all you've learned is what you are-
a vessel crying out for Christ.

That's brilliant.

A friend wrote to me in an e-mail yesterday:

"I intend to become lazier, richer, and get more sex. That's my ultimate aim in life."

I'm tempted to send him that poem you just wrote, but I know he will just come back with something utterly ridiculous. He would probably lie and tell me he is having plenty of fun.

Okay.. Okay.. I admit, I got a hold of a rhyming dictionary for the first time, and I got a WEEEE BIT carried away... Lesson learned

"The Wide and Narrow Paths"

Like sheep we all have gone astray;
Have lost to pride or cold dismay;
Have sinned and reaped our price to pay;
Our every virtue, thrown away.

This fickle world will fade away,
Each body destined to decay.
The clock winds down, day by day,
But still the people mock and play.

No simple words can near convey
The sad illusions they crochet,
Living life by bad cliche
and singing of their ill display.

No man can hope to find the way
Until he parts his curd from whey,
At blood-stained cross repenting they
bring forth their humble life to lay.

Every head can bow and pray
Or choose to go by his own way;
To break like dirt or mold like clay;
To outlive death or pass away.

P.S.: asking before you post my stuff would be preferable next time my darling hubby

"The leading cause of Atheism in the world today is Christians... who acknowledge Jesus with their lips.. and walk out the door and deny Him by their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds.. unbelievable."

All my dreams are slowly dying
I can count my years in scars
The only one that's never left me has carried me so very far
I've heard it said that He wastes NOTHING
So beautiful to behold
The author of my hope is writing The Greatest Story Ever Told!

"What Can I Bring?"

I have looked inside myself
And I do not like what I see.
How is it that you, my Lord,
can find a place of use for me?

I have found no worthwhile thing
No treasure to present my King
No myrrh, no frankincense or gold
No merit pleasing to behold.

Broken and in deep despair
I, to my knees, fall down.
Before his throne, I cry to him
My glorious King with radiant crown.

"Lord, I've looked inside my heart,
I just can't find those fruits of love."
But then my merciful Lord explained,
"These gifts come only from above."

If I was clean all by myself,
I might not need my King.
So, when I must present myself
I trust He'll give me what to bring.

"The leading cause of Atheism in the world today is Christians... who acknowledge Jesus with their lips.. and walk out the door and deny Him by their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds.. unbelievable."

Ah poetry! A wonderful way to share you love to someone including god, heres my one, it took me ages but its worth it!

God i know, shall be there
To help me through this world
To give his love and passion for them
For us to share and build

I am an odd person by far
But still god loves me so
Like everyone of you, we are all special
Let god be with me now...
To share my understanding love and passion with others around me and to know that they are there for me...

"The Fire"

Where has it gone? Where is the fire?
That wonderous zeal I once perspired
That glow inside like heaven's kiss
Lord, tell me how it got to this?

I used to muse upon your Word
I had a quenchless thirst for more
I don't know where my thoughts are now
I've lost sight of that stable shore

Oh, scarcely can I catch my breath!
I'm gaining back my fear of Death.
I once was free of that dark fear,
But my resolve has disappeared.

Lord, bring me back to you once more!
And kill the Me that I abhor
Bring it back with deafening speed
Your Holy Spirit, I'm in need!

Revive in me a holy roar!
And christen now my very core!
You'll finish every work you start
Reclaim me now, redeem my heart

The tears are streaming down my face
I'm craving strong your endless grace
Let me make up the time that's passed
My Lord, I'll be with You at last!

A little poem i had made up for you great people!:

Where do we find him
Is he even there
Why do we believe
Does he have hair

People joke about this kinda stuff
But who is to fully know
Apart from people who actually speak with him
To listen, wait & go...

God is magic
God is love
To know that he is there

May this poem be given
to the people of freejesus
To just stop and stare

A poem like this
Made by James
Should soon liven up this room

So live and breath
and lets all thank god
For all of the great things that he has done...

GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!!
