What Is Passover?
Passover is the re-telling of the great story of how God delivered the Israelites from enslavement from Egypt. The original celebration centered around the Passover lamb, which was sacrificed and its blood was put over the doorposts as a sign of faith, so that the Lord passed over the houses of the Jews during the last plague poured out on the Egyptians.
The New Testament says that Jesus is our Sacrificial lamb. The Passover lamb was to be a male "without" defect ... which is the SAME description given to Jesus. Its amazing how in the Old Testament before sacrificing a lamb, it had to be checked for any spot, defect or blemish ... in the SAME manner ... Jesus was checked for sin, spot or blemish before Pilot. What a mind blowing shadow. But it doesn't stop here ...
In addition, when the lamb was roasted and eaten, none of its bones were to be broken ... Now this is rather interesting as this was prophecied for the Messiah ... that NONE of his bones would be broken, none of Jesus's bones were broken either ...
Psalm 34:20 says ... He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken
Just like the passover lamb's bones were not broken ... neither were Jesus's bones broken.
According to the feast of Passover ... The lamb was to be chosen Five days Prior to Sacrifice ... Now lets compare this to Jesus ... Jesus also in like manner entered into Jerusalem Five days prior to the Sacrifice of the lamb of Passover, he entered as the Lamb of God
When the Passover Lamb was to be sacrificed, the priest would blow the shophar (ram's horn) at 3:00pm, this was the time when the Lamb would be sacrificed for the Sins of the people of Israel ... Did you also know that Jesus was crucified at 3:00pm? Look at the mind blowing Symbolism here, who has thought all this out? Is it a mistake? Or is the Bible right, that Jesus, the Lamb of God, was to be Slain before the foundation of the world?
The sacrifice of the lamb of God was fulfilled at the hour that the symbolic animal sacrifice usually took place. At the same time, the veil of the Temple (a three-inch thick, several story high cloth that demarked the Holy of Holies) tore from top to bottom - representing a removal of the separation between God and man.
Christian symbolism in the Passover occurs early in the Seder (the Passover dinner). Three matzahs are put together (representing the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). The middle matzah is broken, wrapped in a white cloth, and hidden, representing the death and burial of Jesus. The matzah itself is designed to represent Jesus, since it is striped and pierced, which was prophesized by Isaiah, David, and Zechariah. Following the Seder meal, the "buried" matzah is "resurrected," which was foretold in the prophecies of David.
Were you aware that Jesus was also Crucified on the day of Passover? Jesus was the Messiah.
Jesus became The Passover Lamb for ME and for YOU ... This is how much his love is for you, that he died in OUR place, we should have been nailed onto that Cross, but no, God sent his Son Jesus into the world to bear the Sins of the world, and to defeat death and hades, and to resurrect 3 days later. Wont you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord God and Savior this Easter and ask him to come into your heart and forgive you your sins so that you can be with your Creator in heaven for Eternity?
