Science, Creation & EvolutionTheory of evolution is not linked to creation of the earthabsolutetruth Wrote: Sure, you would find very few evolutionists who do not posit the beginning of everything to a naturalistic cause. This however does not detract from the fact that Evolution does not deal with the creation of the Earth as a planet. absolutetruth Wrote: Evolution denies no one, the creator is always welcomed among our ranks. The Theory of Evolution really does not mention a creator, for or against. It does state that life developed in a systematic way which followed patterns and laws. If the religious find this to their distaste then read the bible and believe in that if it suits you. Stop taking it personal. absolutetruth Wrote: Actually, they are more than happy to provide hypothesis which are the best explanation available based on current knowledge and reasoning. absolutetruth Wrote: Uh-hem, lets try this: The natural stuff that became our current universe operated in such a high gravitational field that time was stopped and thus time itself did not exist until the creation of our universe. as far as causes go, everything that Always existed needs no cause for its existence. The natural stuff that created our universe didn't begin to exist, and therefore needs no cause for Its existence. absolutetruth Wrote:
First, Evolution is a Theory, not a hypothesis. Second, Evolution has never been demonstrated to be wrong. Evolution is a science. Evolution is subject to peer review, scrutiny, and testing. Geneticists, biologists, geologists, paleontologists, anthropologists, chemists, physicists, etc. are, as a whole, supportive of Evolution. There is in fact only one single entity which consistently resists the Theory of Evolution: religion. Copernicus, Galileo, Descartes, Brahe, Kepler, Halley and Newton are but a small list of great minds that were at odds with the christian church due to their pursuit of science. Each in turn was vindicated and few today would argue with fundamental principles underlying their work. So too shall it be with Charles Darwin. absolutetruth Wrote:
What I love about religious “thinkers” is that they love to condemn science, but are the first to use it as a defense when it suits their needs. In your own words “the fact that matter and energy cannot be destroyed or created” means what exactly? How about: god could not have used nothing to create something and thus he himself remains just that, nothing. And don’t give me that “he existed outside this space time continuum and can’t be fathomed because he is so totally cool and mighty”, I want answers on how. A little proof/findings (besides the bible) to support your position would also be appreciated. absolutetruth Wrote in response to Jovaro:
There are far too many more “christians” who try to explain nothing, they only use one book, they speak as if they are absolutely sure, but it is nothing but wishful thinking. Its not healthy to the people they influence. Please refrain from reflecting the inherent downfalls of religion onto the scientific community. It makes you sound silly. absolutetruth Wrote:
So what exactly caused is this first cause? god? What cause is responsible for putting god into effect? (Waits for obvious answer… “God has always existed”. Source of answer, bible. Weight carried by this answer, minus ten) absolutetruth Wrote:
Now that is rather neat little contortion in “logic” which answers nothing, how about this: The Big Bang is the "Uncaused Cause". nothing causes The Big Bang because as far as causes go, everything that begins to exist needs a cause. The Big Bang didn't begin to exist, so therefore needs no cause and is the first cause of everything else. There, now those who support the Big Bang have the exact same argument for its existence as you. (Actually, what they propose makes a little more sense, but you get the point, or not. As you will) I’m being unkind really, its actually kinda neat, try it with any word. Go ahead. Replace god with “Pizza” or “The Chubby Lesbian Rat”, makes just as much sense, but is oh-so-much more fun. End: To the Religious: Feel free to believe in god as you wish. Do not worry that science offends your sense of piety; it is not being done for you. Sit back and relax, you are going to heaven. Do as the book says and believe. Stop trying to prove and defend the existence of god, doing so only weakens your beliefs. Just believe in his existence. Rest assured; the scientists are not going to burn you at the stake if they do not agree with you. |
