Trinity DebateThe importance of PurgatoryYou don't seem to understand what I said. I explained it, reread my thread. Earth is a place we can exist and be impure, and yes God is with us and works with us and gives us strength inside, but His kingdom!! God doesn't want unclean impure things in His kingdom! C'mon. We gotta be lily white to be in Heaven. No hidden doctrines or anything behind this thread, just common sense. If I wasn't that clear then I hope now this is clear. Aineo, the verses you offer don't actually contradict what I believe. Notice the Bible doesn't tell that we'd enter Heaven or hell directly after we die. Here's some scripture that supports purgatory. Zechariah 13:9 And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined: and I will try them as gold is tried. They shall call on my name, and I will hear them. I will say: Thou art my people: and they shall say: The Lord is my God. II Maccabees 12:45-46 And because he considered that they who had fallen asleep with godliness, had great grace laid up for them. 46 It is therefore a holy and wholesome thought to pray for the dead, that they may be loosed from sins. Luke 12:47-48 And that servant who knew the will of his lord, and prepared not himself, and did not according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. But he that knew not, and did things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. And unto whomsoever much is given, of him much shall be required: and to whom they have committed much, of him they will demand the more Matthew 5:26 Amen I say to thee, thou shalt not go out from thence till thou repay the last farthing.
