Judaism ForumEdens Location from JubileesIf you noticed where I posted this article on Eden in the Book of Jubilees, you will notice that it’s under the category “Eden in Jewish Tradition”, and it is not referenced as scriptural revelation. But because the work is at least 2200 years old, it does provide us with collaborative evidence to the fact. The reason I brought up Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son and the crucifixion of Christ is that they both point back to the garden, and look forward to our eternal destiny. Abraham took his son up to Mount Moriah, where the temple would be built, where Jesus would be condemned and prepared for sacrifice, demonstrating a divine principle of how God often returns to the same place and most certainly back to this place – the Holy Mountain of God. The cross was a tree for good reason, and follows the plethora of tree metaphors throughout scripture. In fact, the Bible starts with a picture of two trees by a river (Genesis 2), and ends with two trees by a river (Revelation 22). Eden is all part of the same story of God inexorably moving his Kingdom to the Earth – from the Garden, to the Promised Land, to the Millennial Kingdom, to the New Jerusalem. It does indeed matter where the Garden of Eden was – it was in Israel. I agree with Farouk El-Baz, and believe the river that flowed from Medina (The location of Mount Sinai) to the Persian Gulf was the Pishon. We really need to stop wasting our time with Biblical Archeology right? I’m being facetious, but I think you get my point. This is not a statement you have really thought through, and I would not wast my time debating it with anyone. If this is what you really believe, God bless you . . . please! |
