Abortion Memorial ServiceUnborn babies feel pain!If you want to call me a Bible thumper, go right ahead. Since I believe that the Bible is the ultimate source of authority, and since I try to base my life on what it teaches, this is not really as much of an insult as you would like to think it is. My comment was not meant to be an insult or an attack on you. I called you (speaking in generalities, not you personally) an anti-lifer just the same as you would call me an anti-abortionist. I am in favor of allowing an unborn child to have the chance to live – thus I am pro-life. This also must mean I am against abortion – thus I am anti-abortion. The two terms are essentially synonymous. You are in favor of allowing a woman to choose what to do with her body – thus you are pro-choice. This also must mean you against the rights of the unborn child to live – thus you are anti-life. The two terms are essentially synonymous. On both sides, one term is a positive, and one is a negative. Abortion activists always use “pro-choice” and “anti-abortion”. Obviously, this is because they want themselves to look good, while their opponents look bad. I’m just trying to level the playing field. If you (generally) can choose the negative side of two synonymous terms, then I should also be allowed to choose the negative side of two synonymous terms. I’m not calling you a name by doing that, just like you probably believe you are not calling me a name by calling me an anti-abortionist. All I’m doing is categorizing. Except that playing jenga is not a fundamental part of being a human like feeling pain is. Barring any medical problems or deformities, all humans have ten fingers. It is not a huge leap in logic for me to conclude that an unborn baby will have ten fingers. Which is why I said this argument is irrelevant for me. I don’t care when a baby develops the nervous system to be able to sense pain. Killing any human without cause - unborn baby, 10-year-old kid, 41-year-old adult, or 89-year-old senior citizen - is wrong. Period. At what point in your next few paragraphs did you define what a human being is? All you did was take pro-life arguments and dissect them to try to prove that they are wrong. You didn’t present an alternative idea. If you’re gonna say “lets define a human being”, then go ahead and define a human being. I believe that a human being is a human being at the moment of conception. I have Biblical reasons for believing this that I can give to you, but since I reckon that any Biblical arguments I give will not hold much water with you, I’ll refrain from giving them unless you ask. I admittedly do not have any medical arguments for saying that conception is the moment that a human being is defined as a human being, but I submit to you that any medical arguments that state otherwise are most likely arbitrary guesses, and I would be pretty sure that they are arguments that are made by anti-life doctors who are in favor of pushing the abortion-rights agenda. |
