“Believers, ask not questions about things which if made plain to you may cause you trouble when the Qur’an is revealed. Some people before you asked questions, and on that account lost their faith.” [5.101]
I dont think you understand that statement Loki. If something is made clear and plain to one then why question something after understanding it ? The verse is phrased upon after understanding something. If someone does not understand something in Islam then they are to question it until it is clear and plain to them in which they understand.
If people
KNOW certain stuff plainly, then they will not ask questions about it in the first place! Unless Allah is prohibiting quizzmatters i would say that this verse is asking you not to question your beliefs. Is it such a firm belief? that Allah says: "well if you think about it twice", you'll probably lose your faith...
Sahih Nuhari- Volume 1, Book 5, Number 268:
Narrated Qatada:
Anas bin Malik said, "The Prophet used to visit all his wives in a round, during the day and night and they were eleven in number." I asked Anas, "Had the Prophet the strength for it?" Anas replied, "We used to say that the Prophet was given the strength of thirty (men)." And Sa'id said on the authority of Qatada that Anas had told him about nine wives only (not eleven).
Ok now, when was this, before or after the revelation limiting to only 4 wives ?
When the Prophet passed away there were only 4. Can show proof the dating of that hadeeth ? Let me give you a verse to pounder on.
Even the Hadith writers didn't know what time it was revealed... What i can say is that he started his harem after Khadija died... and he allready claimed to have revelation trough the angel Jibreel when Khadija was alive. So wheter he has 2,3,7 or 24 wives. He always had his wives during revelation! As is it pure specalution to assume that after this "only four wives verse" [4] that he dropped all his other 5 wives. On top of that if i'm not mistaken he revealed his only four wive verse to justify his own position at the time... yet the number of wives increased after he made that 'revelation'.
O Prophet! When ye do divorce women, divorce them at their prescribed periods, and count (accurately) their prescribed periods: and fear Allah your Lord: and turn them not out of their houses, nor shall they (themselves) leave, except in case they are guilty of some open lewdness, those are limits set by Allah: and any who transgresses the limits of Allah, does verily wrong his (own) soul: thou knowest not if perchance Allah will bring about thereafter some new situation. 65:1
So where is the proof Muhammad retained more than 4 wives after the revelation limited only 4 was imposed ?
where is your back up that he divorced the other 5 women, your making the claim that he immediatly divorced them when the all punishing Allah made his revelation known to Muhammed. Yet their is no evidence for that, purely wishfull thinking.
Plus if he divorced them, on basis of what? does that mean that he liked the 4 remaining women best? and didn't love all the other 5 equally? Or did he do eeny miny moo, blind folded with them?
Rather than yip yap and make allegations posted from another Christian website do you mind to show us the Sahih hadeeth that supports 24 total wives he was married to in his life time ?
Would sure like to know where the support for the other 12 other than these :
1. Khadijah bint Khuwaylid 2. Sawada bint Zam'a
3. A'isha Siddiqa bint Abu Bakr 4.Hafsa bint 'Umar
5.Zaynab bint Khuzayma 6.Umm Salama Hind bint Abi Umayya
7. Zaynab bint Jahsh 8.Juwayriya bint al-Harith
9. Umm Habiba Ramla bint Abi Sufyan 10. Safiyya bint Huyayy
11. Maymuna bint al-Harith 12. Maria al-Qibtiyya
Who says these are not Muslim assumptions, made by muslim mullah's to try and justify this number of women, by saying they are the same...
i can go in dept in this... but you'll have to wait, and i'll try and give you a commentary on each and every woman that muhammed befelt. concubine, slave and wife alike.
Obviously it seems like your pathetic Christian source were repeating the same women. Also it is a disputed among muslim sources if it was 11-15 wives. As far as I am concerned the strongest sources approve of only 12 which are mentioned above.
they are not all wives wich i mentioned, but also concubines and slaves wich he took to himself.
But I would love to entertain the subject on mere hadith if you like though.
that would be great, but wait untill i gave you more information... yet the real issue is that Muhammed married more then 4 women at once. As i have shown to you, he had 9 or even 11 at once.
Loki wrote:Muhammed or Allah isn't really a consistent character... so in order to have some consistency we must apply progressive revelation... where he first says "forgive the christians" must be outruled by "kill the christians" in the later revelation of the book. Cause Allah is making PROGRESS when he reveals such verses later.
Do you mind to show us where in the Quran it say to "
KILL CHRISTIANS" ? I want to see you hang your self here.
It commes down to this:
- Persecute the unbelievers [9]
- Forgive the unbelievers [45]
Who are the unbelievers? all non muslims [3] this
including christians... unless you want to throw verse [5] against that claim, but then again, you have a inconsistency in wich you need to rule out one, above the other.
