Homosexual Discussion ForumLeviticus. This is how the Geneva Bible, which was the most popular English translation at the time the KJV was translated. Since word usage has changed with time I really doubt the KJ translators used "sodomite" in this verse to indicate homosexuality or they would have used "sodomite" in other Scriptures dealing with male/male sex. If you would take the time to study the etymology of the term “sodomy” you will find it has been used to refer to male prostitutes as well as homosexuals. The relationship between David and Jonathon was the ultimate in male bonding; it was an intimate non-sexual relationship that "surpassed" the erotic love of women. If you take the time to study what Scripture has to say about these two men it becomes apparent they enjoyed an intimate relationship that many straight men enjoy today. You have posted bad information about Koine and Hebrew; the languages are in no way similar. In fact Greek is a more precise language the Hebrew or Aramaic. The term homosexual was coined, not by a doctor but by a German journalist who was attempting to differentiate gay men from pedophiles (pederasts). A psychiatrist later co-opted the term to describe a pathological, treatable condition. The true information can be found in the online gay dictionary. At the time Paul was preaching the gospel and writing his epistles the Septuagint (Greek translation of the Hebrew canon) was used by most Jews in the Diaspora and was widely used by the Jews in Palestine. Arsen and koites are found in the Septuagint in Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13 so Paul’s readers would not have understood “arsenokoites” as male prostitute. Leviticus 18 is clear that men having sex with a men is an abomination carrying the death penalty. An analysis of 1 Corinthians 6:9 ,also clearly shows that Paul was not referring to male prostitutes since fornication and adultery would cover that sin. The only clear contextual understanding is Paul was referring to male/male sexual unions. The Scripture are full of instructions for male/female relationships but are devoid of instructions for male/male relationships. Gay theology and gay apologists have built an entire theological stance around what the Bible does not teach, which is an argument from silence. Ask your rabbi what Scripture teaches about groping a man. It appears your rabbi, priest, and minister are not seeking God’s truth but are looking for a way to justify a sin. Since most Christians do not have a "pathological fear of gay men" we are not homophobic any more than you have a "pathological fear of straights" and are heterophobic. But, maybe you are. |
