Bible StudyIs the NIV for real??? :: Brother Martins replyBrother Martin's reply
Well, I heard from Brother Martin. I assume he's the one who wrote the article. I'll post my email first.
Well, I've just read your article about how you believe that the NIV Bible is Satanically inspired. I'm going to go through your points, one by one. Then hopefully, you'll see that you've been mistaken. Your comments are in red, mine are in blue, Scriptures are in purple, and NIV notes are in green.
Just a few examples should be enough to show you the problem. In the New International Version (NIV) it says in 2 Samuel 21:19 that someone other than David killed the giant Goliath. Anyone knows this is not true, except the 'scholars' who translated it.
Here's a copy of what the NIV footnotes have to say.
Elhanan...killed Goliath. See NIV text note. Since it is clear from 1Sa 17 that David killed Goliath, it is possible that an early copyist misread the Hebrew for "Lahmi the brother of" (see 1Ch 20:5) as "the Bethelehemite" (in Hebrew the word for "killed" stands first in the clause).
The NIV text note for v.19 says:Hebrew and Septuagint; 1 Chron 20:5 son of Jair killed Lahmi the brother of Goliath.
1 Chronicles 20:5 states -In another battle with the Philistines, Elhanan son of Jair killed Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, who had a spear with a shaft like a weaver's rod.
According to Hebrews 3:16 in the NIV all the children of Israel rebelled in the wilderness and none made it into the promised land; however, we know that Joshua and Caleb did not rebel, and God promised them each a place in the promised land (just read Numbers 13 & 14).
No, this is not a mistake. Read the Scripture more closely.
Who were they who heard and rebelled? Were they not all those Moses led out of Egypt?
The author never said that Joshua and Caleb took part in the rebellion. You mistook his use of the word "all" and came to assume that he was accusing Joshua and Caleb of committing this act. All of the people who rebelled were part of the group that had been led out of Egypt by Moses. That's what the author was saying. And because they refused to believe what God had promised to them, they were prevented from entering Canaan.
Another mistake is found in Mark 1:2,3 where according to the NIV the writer of Malachi was Isaiah! Just check out Isaiah 40:3 and Malachi 3:1 - the KJV has it right and the NIV has it wrong.
Once again, here are the NIV footnotes.
in Isaiah the prophet. The quotation that immediately follows (see first two poetry lines) comes from Mal 3:1 but is followed by one from Isa 40:3 (see note on Mt 27:9). Understanding the ministry of Jesus must begin with the OT. What Isaiah says about God applies to Jesus, his Son (v.1). The passages cited speak of the messenger, the desert and the Lord, each of which is stressed in vv.4-8.
Now, let's review what Mark 1:2-3 says.
It is written in Isaiah the prophet:
"I will send my messenger ahead of you,
who will prepare your way" --
"a voice of one calling in the desert,
'Prepare the way for the Lord,
make straight paths for him.'"
Malachi 3:1 says:
"See, I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to his temple; the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, will come," says the LORD Almighty.
And Isaiah 40:3 states:
A voice of one calling:
"In the desert prepare
the way for the LORD;
make straight in the wilderness
a highway for our God.
Mark 1:2-3 is a combination of quotes from the Books of Isaiah and Malachi.
Now, to really top it off, make note of the outright blasphemy contained in the NIV regarding the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. The translators gave the name of the Son of God to the devil and downgraded Christ to the level of a false god! The KJV calls the devil 'Lucifer' in Isaiah 14:12, but the NIV changes the name to 'morning star'!!! The Lord Jesus Christ is called the "bright and MORNING STAR" in Revelation 22:16. Could any professing Christian honestly believe the Holy Spirit led these so-called 'conservative scholars' to take a title reserved for our Savior and give that name to Lucifer? We don't. THIS IS WHY WE CALL THE NIV 'SATAN'S MASTERPIECE' - we believe the devil's usurpation of Christ's title here is his personal signature on the most popular and promoted modern version of the 'bible' today.
Satan is known for wanting to imitate the Lord in every way.
God leads angels of light; Satan commands angels of darkness.
God has spiritual children, who are adopted into His family through their belief in and acceptance of Jesus; Satan has his own spiritual children, who become his family through their arrogance, wickedness and denial of Christ.
Jesus refers to Himself as an angel of light; Satan poses as an angel of God, 2 Corinthians 11.
God has His own city, Revelation 21; Satan has a city as well, Revelation 17.
Jesus is the Prince of Peace; Satan is the prince of this world and of the air.
Jesus is the Lord our God; Satan is the god of this age.
Jesus is the Lion of the tribe of Judah; Satan is known as the devouring lion.
Jesus came to us as God in human form; the Antichrist will claim that he is God.
Therefore, it would make sense that he would want to be called the "morning star," since Jesus is known as the bright and Morning Star. Perhaps you've also failed to realize that the Hebrew for "morning star" is translated "Lucifer" in the Latin Vulgate.
Some believe that in Isaiah 14:12-15, Isaiah gave a description of the fall of Satan. But the passage also applies to the king of Babylon, who is later used as a type of the "beast" who will lead the Babylon of the last days.
And then in Daniel 3:25, where Nebuchadnezzar looks in the fiery furnace and sees a fourth man in the fire and proclaims that he saw what looked like 'the Son of God' (KJV) the NIV translates it so that the Lord Jesus Christ is no longer the Son of the true God, but is transformed into 'a son of the gods' - that is, an imaginary, pagan god that doesn't exist except in mythology! What a ROLE REVERSAL on the part of Jesus Christ and Satan - and all done in the name of conservative, biblical 'scholarship.' SATAN BECOMES GOD and JESUS CHRIST BECOMES A PAGAN, MYTHOLOGICAL 'god'!!! To believe that the Holy Spirit of God is the author of such nonsense is crazy. One would have to be the member of a cult to accept this as 'bible' truth. (That is exactly what the world will accept as truth when Satan shows up in the tribulation and proclaims that he is Christ. All he'll have to do is point those who doubt him to Isaiah 14:12 in a modern version to 'prove' that he, 'Lucifer,' is Christ - and he'll deceive the world with a so-called 'bible.')
As you must know, Nebuchadnezzar was a pagan polytheist. Therefore, he was speaking as a pagan polytheist. Because of this, he viewed the fourth figure as a lesser heavenly being sent by the all-powerful God of the Israelites. The translator is not claiming that Jesus is a pagan god, and he/she is not committing blasphemy.
I am led to conclude that if you had spent more time cross-referencing ]and less time putting down the NIV, you would have realized that it is not "Satanically inspired." Just because it's a modern-day translation of the Bible, does not mean it's evil. The messages that are found in the NIV are the same as the ones found in the KJV. The abominations listed in the KJV are the same abominations listed in the NIV. The path to salvation that was laid out in the KJV, is the same path that was laid out in the NIV. All of the messages are the same.
I'm not going to Hell, just because I read the NIV. You walk on dangerous territory every time you claim that the NIV is Satanically inspired, especially since you have no basis for your arguments.
I have been a born-again Christian since November, 2003. I talk to the Lord regularly. Don't you think that if He had a problem with the NIV, He would tell me? Because He certainly lets me know when I've stepped out of line. I don't see why He wouldn't tell me to stop reading the NIV, if He had a problem with it.
Sincerely,
Linda
P.S. I suggest you visit the following website, which discusses the translations that were used to create the KJV.

And of course, Brother Martin wrote back, assuring me that I've been "greatly deceived."
Hello. I have read your response. Nothing new to me. It is the same rehashed stuff that has been put out for years to try and vindicate the NIV and other modern translations. If you cannot see what is clear and plain in the English, there is no need for you to try and understand the "original languages." I am sorry that you have been fooled into accepting translations merely based upon preference and not conviction.
I have no doubt that you are saved. But the issue is not that the "message" is the same, but that the WORDS are not. Jesus said His WORDS would not pass away. The devil's counterfeits are so close to the real thing that you wouldn't know the difference without the Holy Spirit showing it to you. If the devil wanted to pass off a bad translation as the word of God, he would not make it so that it would be easily identified.
Bro. Martin
So basically, not only am I a member of an NIV cult that doesn't exist. Now, I have no convictions, and I'm a blind fool. It's a shame that, even when the proof was staring him in the face, he continued to tout his "the NIV Bible is Satanically inspired" message. And he doesn't even realize that he's walking on very dangerous territory, because he's claiming that the word of God is actually full of the words of Satan.
Let's pray for Martin, shall we?
And newseed, I'll do my best to help you out.
