take nothing in the bible at face value, it says many many things. the entire first part of leviticus deals with very little other than the sacrifice of animals. it also deals with the daily meal offering made in the tent of meeting. it would be considered a heinous crime then to mess up a sacrifce, and it was. two preists were smitten for lighting a "Strange fire" on the alter. yet if you look throughout all of the bible, nonoe was ever killed for being gay, not unitll far after the passage was written. it wasn't even looked down on untill far after jesus came.
so untill you guys rebuild the temple, and start making daily sacrifices, well, then don't hold the bible litteraly
