Apologetics Forum: Ask questions about Christianity/Debate doctrinesOnce Saved always Saved Clarified by Jesus Himself! The passage in 1 John is not implying that one cannot sin, it is saying that ths sinful acts will be put away. If that passage is implying that a born again person cannot sin, then verse 8 would would prove that we would probably all perish. 1 John 3:8:He that comitteth sin is of the Devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. And once again, His seed remaineth. But i do not agree with infant damnation. Neither does it say that they were saved! Once again, the seed among good ground brings forth fruit. Now if you were to apply what you have just stated regarding whether or not they were or were not saved. Saving Faith:Repentance and Faith leads to conversion. I have the KJV bible and it reads:Ephesians 2:8 - For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: This verse applies to ephesians but also applies to salvation in general. Are ye saved indicates that the ephesians were spiritually saved at some point in the past. are ye saved is also a greek perfect tense which further proves that they were already saved before. |
