It is worthwhile to look into the reality of when and how Paul's writings became identified as scripture. Paul certainly never referred to His writings as scripture. In fact, Paul's writings were not elevated to the position of Scripture until the 66 books were "canonized" by churchianity. It was in the interest of churchianity to canonize Paul's writings, because this was the only source for their positions of authority and their many doctrines! When Paul referred to "the Scriptures", he was referring to the Old Testament, for this was the source of his teachings on Jesus as Messiah and the Person and work of the Holy Spirit.
On the other hand, Jesus was clearly conscious of Who He was/is, and that His Words have the Authority of the Father! So, why are most of Jesus' Words ignored, and Paul's words elevated above Jesus Words? Who is actually practicing a canon within canon which puts man's perspective above Jesus' Words?
Look at how Paul's writings contradict Jesus' Words: He establishes institutions instead of focusing upon making disciples of Jesus. He reminds his readers of his own teachings, instead of teaching them to obey all that Jesus commanded. He gives titles and assigns authority, instead of adhering to Jesus' teaching that anyone who desires to be great in His kingdom must be servant of all.
Simple truth: titles elevate a man over others .. divides brothers and sisters. We only have One Shepherd and only One Teacher. Jesus insists upon this. Jesus also insists that servanthood is the standard, not offices and titles. Paul ignored all of it.
We have preachers today teaching women they have the "right" to turn away from their husbands in certain circumstances. How can this be from Jesus' Words, when He says that anyone who is His disciple must die to self and take up their cross daily?
We have preachers empowering people to manifest their faith according to their feelings: to interpret scripture according to their feelings and "circumstances". How can this be, when Jesus says that we are to repent, die to self, take up our cross daily and follow Him?
Preachers today are affirming American values: therefore, a preacher of a major "ministry" in Oklahoma can sit around all day in the "ministry" office and fret over how his stock portfolio is doing day after day. Another "Christian" business man can continue to take on more and more and more business obligations when he cannot fulfill the commitment to agents and customers already signed up with his service!!! (and that is just "good business" .. not honest, but "good business", nonetheless)
Preachers today are embracing a Christianity that incorporates that pagan cultural value that "everyone is entitled to their opinion" .. and, therefore, opinions are authoritative .. in direct contradiction to the Word .. after all we have to deal with circumstances, and absolutes don't always work in the circumstances of the moment, do they? grrrr
