Qurbani Id
I think maybe my question about the Qurbani Id was lost in the other posts.. let me tell you what I know about it and then suggest something.
surah 22:35 says
And the camels we appointed you for the sacrifice to God: much good have ye in them. Make mention, therefore of the name of God, over them when ye slay them, as they stand i a row: and they are they are fallen on their sides, eat of them and feed him who is content and asketh not, and him who asketh. Thus have we subjected them to you to the intent ye shall be thankful. by no means can their flesh reach unto God, neither their blood, but piety on your part reached Him."
This festival takes place on the tenth last day of the month of the Muslim year celebrates the willingness of Abraham to sacrifice his son (Ismael to the Muslim, Isaac to the Jew/Christian). Camels are mentioned in this surah, but a male goat, a lamb, a cow, or a camel is slain and even a chicken. The animal must be without blemish and young.
Now.. my question here for you all is... is this sin offering a required part of your faith? What happens if you don't participate in the Qurbani Id?
I'll have more to ask on this later.. but an answer would be really appreciated when you have time.
Thanks
Carol
