Bible StudyIs the NIV for real???I am trying to explain this without it becoming heated etc. It is my own thoughts and no-one has taught me this. The OT was written before Jesus was born. The OT instructs us to do things considered, I don't know if illegal is too strong a term but not considered done today, like killing young animals in order to offer sacrifice upto God to keep his covenant (friendship). I don't know if any society still continues that practice. Our nearest practice I am worked out would be Holy Communion. The Lord's prayer is not of the OT but Jesus himself taught us. (NT). The acts is the book where christianity first came about. If that is the case then how is it that the OT is written for Christians? I'll accept it has been adopted by Christians but written? I have a spiritual Director and meet with him tomorrow so I may get an opportunity to clarify all this. I hope so. Our practices of today seem to come from the NT rather than the OT. |
