I am a seventeen year old believer and I have been lurking on these boards for awhile but have never posted. However, I was confronted with an issue today that I felt I needed someone to talk to about, and I don't really know anyone who understand.
During a debate in my government class today, some students began talking about gay marriage. I voiced my opinion on the matter. That is when one girl (who is pro-gay marriage) said that I was the reason people hate Christians. Apparantly she is a Catholic but she thinks I "shove my beliefs down other people's throats" and scare prospective Christians away, and give people reasons to be athiests. I know this is not true... but I did not know how to respond. She called my opinions "radical" and "unfair" and said I was close-minded. I usually do not take insults like this too personally, but I felt attacked and wished I knew what to say.
Have you ever been in a situation like this? If so, what did you do?
