Religious Cults & False Prophets~ Discussions and DebatesIf we arent to obey...Aineo, you make a good argument (atleast for the moment) by quoting Galatians 3:23-25. But, how would you respond to Christ's rebuke of the Pharisees for misinterpreting the law? How would you also respond to Paul when he mentions OT characters that were justified by faith? I'm not saying you are wrong, but how will you reconcile all these points? Well, in this case I will say that the ordinances were once a part of the law, since God commanded it in the OT. But there were ordinances that were performed in the OT that are not required today. So, when I speak of law, I am speaking of the law that is common between the OT and the NT, the moral law. But there are ordinances that Christ have even commanded in the New Testament, such as baptism and communion. So I can understand if you say ordinances are a part of the law. But they are useless without obeying the weightier matters of law, such as charity, peace, longsufferng, etc. We cannot do the ordinances without having a heart for God. |
