Christian ChatWhy is everyone so thirsty?God has taught me a lot since my initial post in this topic. Another reason is that many are trying to do things on their own and not relying on God's grace. Christ said that he who hungers and thirst after righteousness will be filled. We are to cry to God and recieve His grace before we can be filled. Also, ministers in churches these days just quote scripture, but do not tell you how to practicalize the Word. For example, if I tell someone that it takes the grace of God to overcome sin, they might not even understand what that means. I can imagine a person trying to receive Christ, giving up when they hear something like that. Some people might even think it's magical in that they sit around doing nothing, or they continue enjoying sin and God will magically turn them around and fill them. The truth is, if a heart truly wants to seek God, then it's prayer will continually be "Lord, give me grace." In other words, while you are attempting to do God's will, realize that you need His grace to achieve such things. If you know you are to give a poor person something with a cheerful heart and you do not have a cheerful heart, you are to give it anyway seeing that the needs of the poor are more important than your feelings. But if you neglect to be real with God by asking for forgiveness and say to Him that you need His grace to have a cheerful heart, then the poor man has been blessed, but you are damned and your good work is a filthy rag. |
