ArchivedCan God have an Opinion?Agreed on your first paragraph. OPINION-"A belief or conclusion held with confidence but not substantiated by positive knowledge or proof"-www.dictionary.com Even the serpent admitted that God knows all: "God knows that your eyes will be opened when you eat it. You will become just like God, knowing everything, both good and evil." Genesis 3:5 Now, for your second paragraph, that I seem to disagree with. I am not completely sure of what you were trying to say, I may be misinterpreting your words and to what you were referring to. God's judgements and values are not His opinion, if that is what you are saying. God can never have an opinion. All opinion is either right or wrong, whether we know which it is or not. Here is an example: Two people are debating homosexuality, one says it is right, one says it is wrong. The Bible is the inspired Word of God (a presupposition I am making for this thread). The Bible declares homosexuality as a sin, therefore that means God declares homosexuality is a sin. The person saying homosexuality is right, has a wrong opinion. God is the defining power of what is right and wrong, therefore He cannot have an opinion since He knows of all and defines all. If I interpretted your second paragraph incorrectly, then just ignore it. If I did interpret what you meant to say correctly, then please create a rebutal or concede. Thanks for the reply. |
