Geshtinnanna,
The person that called you names is not a genuine Christian. Genuine Christians are known for their genuine love as Jesus instructed at John 13:34-35: “I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love among yourselves.” If that person were a genuine Christian he would have shown you love, insulting a person by name calling is not how love is shown, and he would obey God’s instructions setout in the Bible such as at 1 John 4:11: “Beloved ones, if this is how God loved us, then we are ourselves under obligation to love one another.”
No doubt that imitation Christian will claim that the words “love one another” does not include you, but he is very much mistaken. Please let me show you why:
1 John 4:7-10 the verses immediately preceding verse 11 that I quoted above state: “Beloved ones, let us continue loving one another, because love is from God, and everyone who loves has been born from God and gains the knowledge of God. 8 He that does not love has not come to know God, because God is love. 9 By this the love of God was made manifest in our case, because God sent forth his only-begotten Son into the world that we might gain life through him. 10 The love is in this respect, not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent forth his Son as a propitiatory sacrifice for our sins.” Those verses are referring to God’s ultimate act of love as described at John 3:16 which states: “For God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son, in order that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life.” That includes you! And a genuine Christian would know that and would show you love in obedience to the fact that “we [true Christians] are . . . under obligation to love” those that God loves. No amount of justification can make it right for a Christian to act in the manner you describe.
All I would ask of you is that you not make the mistake of thinking that all Christians are like that one.
