Be calm, my friend
You act as if you know me, a common emotional reaction. You say that I haven't studied the Bible, as if you knew me, and you say that I don't have an original thought in me.
I have read the Bible numerous times, studied the Christian philosophers, and have done the same for many other religious texts. I have by no means siphoned any of these notions off from any rights movement, as I have always supported it but never participated in it. 50% of the leaders of those movements speak only with hot air anyway, unfortunately.
You somehow get the idea that I haven't studied history and don't know the historical circumstances surrounding the institution of slavery, the persecution of Protestants, etc. Again, this is untrue, as I am fully aware of all of this, of the causes and effects and the forces at work in those time periods. You'd like to suppose that I'm a half-wit hot air balloon, if only to distance yourself from the challenge of validly addressing my arguments. But I am not what you suppose me to be, and I don't really know much about you either, so let's leave that aside.
I don't blame the religion for anything. I blame man's misuse of the religion. Christianity by no means brought about slavery...but those who were intent on slavery used it to justify what they did. I believe the same now...Christianity does not bring on the hate of many Christians for homosexuals, it is the people themselves. But I state, yet again, what I see reoccurring is just another instance of men trying to justify their submission to xenophobia with their religion. Christianity is not the problem. Those that twist it about are the problem.
So, though I tip my hat to your dedication and fervor, I ask that you do me justice and respond with rhetoric rather than emotional invention.
I know you've got it in you.
