Homosexual Discussion ForumHomosexuality and the BibleAll right to the first part. I probably heard people just speak the words in relation to God. I should know better than to go by memory instead of tossing them in the conversation. Conceded. However, then it does bring up the question, Does God change? If so that's a whole topic that could be discussed, because it would be highly appropriate to this debate. If he DOESN'T change, then my points still stand in relation to God. Well good. I'm very glad you can admit that freely. What I am attempting to do, and quite well with even ONE example, is to show that parts of the Bible are not "moral". So it does not always show itself to be an unquestioned perfect example of how people should believe or act. That's a start. Trashing Christianity is not what I am doing. I am CHALLENGING it to verify what it says is good and moral. If someone cannot do so in any other way than "I believe", then I see no reason to respect their opinions on anything, and therefore feel they should definitely by kept to themselves, and out of laws and politics. I wouldn't keep them from speaking, and I believe in live and let live, but I'll be the first person to tell them their ideas are valueless without solid reason behind them. Anyone can believe anything. What's the difference between you or a hindu? Or a Satanist? ANYONE can start and end an argument with "I believe", but with out showing WHY you believe this way and giving a REASON to take this belief as a good viewpoint to adopt, why should anyone take it seriously? Just because there is a fear of death and it would be better if it was true? That's a logical fallacy right there. It's called Appeal to Consequence. In any case, lets move on..I'm going to stop generalizing and get more specific answers since you're really nitpicking on exact specifics. I'm still not off in my general arguments in my opinion, but you like to pick apart an incidental part of my points and ignore the true point I'm getting at. So I'll have to post flawlessly. I'll hit the books, give me a moment |
