Greetings Kai Hagbard,
I’d like to comment on this topic…
When one compares this Koranic message to its source material, it becomes readily apparent that it does not lend itself to any coherence with modern science.
It becomes quite clear that these Koranic passages were never intended to be “scientific” in any way, shape, or form. Hence, in my posts, I have eluded to the Book of Revelation –which is the source of this misunderstood Koranic conundrum…
Let’s look…
Expelled Devil, Koran: (15:16-18, 26:210, 37:6-10, 53:1-2, 67:5, 81:25)
Expelled Devil, Book of Revelation: (12:3-4, 12:7-9, 12:12-13)
Expelled Devil, Koran
And We had made/created in the sky/space constellations, and We decorated/beautified it to the lookers/seers. And We protected/guarded it from every cursed/expelled devil. Except who eavesdropped the hearing, so a clear/evident light from a fire source/a star followed him. (15:16-18 )
And the devils did not descend with it. (26:210)
That We decorated/beautified the sky/space (of) the present world with the stars'/planets' decoration/beauty. And a protection/guarding from every/each rebellious/mutinous devil. They do not hear/listen to the nobles/assembly the highest/mightiest/most dignified, and they be thrown/hurled from every/each side/direction. Expelled/driven away, and for them (is) a permanent/continuous/lasting torture. Except who snatched the one snatch, so a light from a fire source/a star lit/ignited/penetrating followed him. (37:6-10)
Look at the title of this Sura:
SURA 53 THE STAR
By/and the star/planet if (it) fell/dropped. Your companion/friend did not become misguided/lost, and did not become misguided/failed. (53:1-2)
And We had decorated/beautified, the sky/space (of) the present world with lights/stars, and We made it meteorites/shooting stars for the devils, and We prepared/made ready for them the/blazing/inflamed (inferno) torture. (67:5)
And it is not with a cursed/expelled devil's saying/statement. (81:25)
Expelled Devil, Book of Revelation
And another sign was seen in the heavens. And, behold, a great red dragon having seven heads and ten horns! And on his heads were seven diadems, and his tail drew the third part of the stars of the heaven, and he throws them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman being about to bear, so that when she bears he might devour her child. (Rev 12:3-4)
And war occurred in Heaven, Michael and his angels making war against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels made war, but they did not have strength, nor yet was place found for them in Heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, the old serpent being called devil, and, Satan; he deceiving the whole habitable world was cast out onto the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. (Rev 12:7-9)
Because of this, be glad, the heavens and those tabernacling in them. Woe to the ones dwelling on the earth, and in the sea, because the devil came down to you having great anger, knowing that he has a little time! And when the dragon saw that he was cast out onto the earth, he pursued the woman who bore the male. (Rev 12:12-13)
Summary:
1) Rebellious Devil is thrown down from Heaven?...Revelation, yes…Koran, yes
2) What follows the Devil?....Revelation, stars…Koran, stars
3) Revelation clarifies that the stars are angels
4) It can be seen where the Koran obtains the notion of “shooting stars for the devils”
Thus, the parallels are undeniable.
This material pertains to the casting down of the devil and his angels, from heaven to earth, as detailed in the Book of Revelation numerous times.
The authors of the Koran have (in usual fashion) just blended Biblical “alkitabu” into their “creation” sequences – and, in this case, anyone would be hard pressed to force fit spiritual beings into modern science…
I’m sure that you would agree…
Take care…
