Homosexual Discussion ForumHomosexuality - My Storyi have put forward my opinion as you have yours. neither is more correct or true than the other regardless of what you or i may like to believe. in my world, the Bible is not the ultimate book of truth. no such book exists except the book that we each hold inside of us, which is a very subjective thing. personal truth is as close to ultimate truth as you can get. truth lies inside not outside and God's teachings are not "one size fits all" because every single human life is different. the bible, to me, is essentially a book of mythology and metaphor just like the religious books of every other religion in the world past or present. no disrespect intended because i respect some of the teachings of the Bible. i just don't believe it to be the only true source, nor do I believe it to be a factual history. neither do i disrespect those that hold it close to their hearts. what i cannot respect is the need some people feel to use it as a tool in some kind of war. i know it bites to not know the ultimate reason or truth for everything in this world but if you can come to some kind of peace with that uncertainty, life becomes a whole lot easier. its kind of like the balance you have to reach in order to surf. you don't know what the wave is going to do so you just try and hold your balance as best you can. you trust yourself (and God, if that is your want), you trust what you have learned from past experience and eventually you trust the wave. nobody is perfect, no two people are the same and no system of thought suits everyone nor is any belief perfect or superior to another. life and people are just not that cut and dried. i respect your right to believe whatever you choose to believe. i have no trouble with that belief. what i do have trouble with are the actions that allegedly stem from that belief. i find them hateful and life-negating. that is just my opinion which i am allowed, i believe, to hold. we have to agree to disagree. put simply: gay people are not sick and consenting homosexuality, as with consenting heterosexuality, hurts nobody. its only fear and ignorance that has people thinking otherwise. |
