Thanks for replying. I know I posted a lot of questions. Your comparison of a car and driver with that of a human body and its soul is an interesting one.
It leaves one question unanswered though: A body is born with a soul (if I understand christian believes correctly), but a car is not 'born' with a driver. The driver has to step into the car from somewhere else and lives a life outside of the car.
Does the soul 'get into the body' from an outside source, or is it grown with the rest of the body in the uterus?

Second question: If the soul does not NEED a body to live in, WHY does it?

In my experience science has never really accepted heaven, hell or non-material entities, like ghosts, souls, spirits etc. as real things. These concepts might have a very good function in mythology, and are well documented in folklore, but not in science books. There are no serious reports I know of, that actually RECORD something when a person dies (energy, magnetism, heat etc). It could be argued that we just haven't invented the device yet that can see departing souls, but we would expect something. After all: Jesus contacted the living after his death without the use of machines... so you'd expect other (recordable!) occurances of the dead that speak with the living.
(And no, I don't think white blurs on photos are ghosts. I think the chances of you photographing a reflective surface or the people that develop your photo screwing up, are much greater then the chances of you actually photographing a ghost - IF such think exist)
