Science, Creation & EvolutionHelix - atheistI agree with Jovaro. You can't actually expect me to take this test seriously? I could mention all these things and claim they are proof that I am right. By that I mean that you're not proving something, you're just mentioning a lot of animals. In history, gods have always been the creations of humans, not the other way around. The ancient Greeks/Romans had a whole group of dieties. No one of you would claim these are REAL gods, now would you? (Especially not if we consider Zeus had homosexual tendencies) They are however a good example of how a people expressed their own feelings and emotions onto dieties/mythology. Their gods were descibed as having the same flaws of character (jealousy, insanity, adultery) as humans and the same morals as the people that described them. Now that a look at the gods of what the people of what is now Germany/Scandinavia. The Vikings and other 'barbarians' as the Romans described them, believed in warrior gods. Why? Because they where a people that lived for battle; pummeling Roman legions in the woods of future Germany and later on even pillaging the shores of England. People on islands (Japan) have creation stories that involve the Earth being several islands, made up from dirt that was being dragged up from the sea bottom to cover the shell of a turle, and there are countless other stories that seem ridiculous and explainable. ("Ah, they fought a lot, so they thought the gods would be warriors as well!") Gods don't make people, PEOPLE MAKE GODS! It's people that write 'Holy Books,' supposedly inspired by a / several gods. It's people that make up mythology. And its about time we realise that. |
