Rejoicing and Praising Jesus Christ Forum!Jesus Tomb ?The truth is we don't know for sure where the tomb Jesus was laid in is located. The site that is claimed to be the tomb is based on little to no historical evidence or proof. The Apostles and the 1st century Church would not have turned the tomb into a spot for veneration since they were Jews, and even Christian Jews would have adhered to Jewish customs, which precludes veneration of images and such practices that became common after the time of Constantine. Jerusalem was destroyed in 70 A.D. and again in 135 A.D. so any "holy sites" other than the Wailing Wall are based on nothing more than speculation. Other than the Mount of Olives and other geographical sites that a war could not destroy. |
