The sad thing...
Oh, I'm hanging in there. Matthew 5:11-12 has been very helpful. The more they insult me and spread lies about me, the more I'm being rewarded.
The sad thing is, none of these so-called Christians are able to see that behind every hateful word they say about me and every single lie they spread, lies Satan. Yes, they are responsible for their actions. But who do you think plants these ideas in their heads. I must be on the right track, if Satan's doing this. It's not beyond him to cause Christians to attack other Christians.
That is, if these people were ever Christian to begin with.
Here are two messages I'd like to share with you. The first is from me, as a response to the email I've already posted. Please let me know if I sounded too harsh, or if I could have said something differently.
One moment, you're talking about love and tolerance. The next, you're bashing all Christians for the actions of a few people who only claim to be Christian. Have you ever sat down and talked to a Christian, one on one? I mean a person who follows Christian principles and mirrors Jesus in His love and mercy for others. If you had done that, then you'd see what Christianity is really like. Christians -- true Christians -- don't bash people, especially nonbelievers. If we see someone who's in trouble, we don't channel Fred Phelps (the hateful bigot who's in charge of the Westboro cult in Kansas) and insult the person that we should try to help.
If you'd like to continue this discussion, please do. But please keep your messages civil and respectful, and consider what I've said. There is a difference between a nametag Christian (a person who is Christian by name, but not in attitude or faith) and a true Christian.
Linda,
I was angry at your first message. It sounded to me like you were saying that Orlando was wrong for following his own beliefs because they were not your beliefs. If that was not what you intended, I'm sorry I misunderstood. I'm afraid that most of the people I know are "name-tag" Christians. I know I can get rather heated in this type of discussion.
Though I don't practice any religion, I have no problem with others doing so, as long as they don't push it on me. I have my own faith, which I find is different from religion.
The one thing that I do believe in is "The Golden Rule". As long people treat others they way they would wish to be treated, I think we'll all be okay not matter what religion we practice.
I hope this explains my position.
Diane
Looks like I'm making a
little progress. At least she's being civil.
