I think there is too much emphasis placed on the man's supplying his family with material stuff.
A man should not have to live in a different city during the week and only come home at weekends just so his family can have a bigger house. "Providing for your family" in my opinion is just making sure they have what they need. Like how God provides for us... he might not always give us what we want, but he always gives us what we need.
I'm sure most of these men would rather be at home with their families more and maybe have a few less possessions!
