jesus was quite clear about marriage. ifyou have to do it, so be it.
but its a hindrance on the spiritual path.
whoa! hold yer horses...i'll explain.
just as many wise people came to realise before christianity, the lot of the householder is fraught with responsibility and necessarily re-directs time from freeing the spirit.
sexual reproduction is by its nature a physical act requiring a certain state of mind. jesus knew that at certain spiritual levels (those states the hindus would have associated with the higher heart /head chakras) that gender doesn't have the same meaning hence no sexual reproduction.
the rules as concerns marriage do exist to prevent fornication. sexual kicks for sexual kicks sake. the idea of impurity sulliying the act itself ....do you follow? the rules are there to prevent us wasting our time trying to get some dubious kicks when we could realise our true amazing, beyond orgasmic, spiritual potential. jesus said, in this world, that it was preferable to avoid marriage lock stock.
as the buddhists recognised, things have a way of getting complicated and messy when we act without awareness. our sexual relationships become
problematic not because there is inherent evil in one lump of matter entering another. it is becuse of our illusions, desires and attachments. i mean just look at the choices we make about our partners!...non too skilful in many cases. sexual union is a minefield for the unprepared with a whole world of possible fallout irrespective of gender. just putting a ring on your finger doesn't change that.
peace be with you.
