Homosexual Discussion ForumQuestions for gay marriage opponents :: Re: Questions for gay marriage opponentsIf you have read all the threads dealing with gay unions then you should have found the Netherlands studies that show gay men are at higher risk for psychiatric disorders and that the average gay relationships lasts less than 18 months. Point #2 has been discussed. The Constitution limits the power of the Judicary by putting it under the control of the Legislative Branch. The Judiciary is not allowed to "write law" they can only enforce existing laws. President Clinton signed the Federal Defense of Marriage Act and 36 states have passed similar legislation. Since you hold the Constitution is such high regard it seems the elected officials of our Federal Government and the elected officials of 36 States have voted the will of the people. As a single man I find the fact that married's get more benefits than singles legalized discrimination, especially when both partners are working. My Social Security contributions belong to me not the Federal Government and I should have the right to decide who receives continuing benefits when I die. Since many of us view homosexuality as a morality issue and not a civil rights issue so bringing interracial marriages into the debate is nothing more than a strawman since the two cannot be compared. As to gay unions eventually becoming the law of the land I have a tendency to agree with you as I see the universal approval of homosexuality as a viable alternate lifestyle promoted by governments and liberals as just one more sign of the times that the Lord is coming back soon. |
