Whoever shall respond to my post please read everything carefully as I am using many quotes to portray a point. I am seeking an answer so what I am looking for is someone to respond not by using quotes from the Bible, rather, someone who really appreciates and understands Christianity to respond to my questions. It would be appreciated immensely.
Isaiah 43:10 says that
"There is no other God; there never has been and never will be. I am the LORD, and there is no other Savior."
Isaiah 52:10 states: “See, my servant will prosper; he will be highly exalted. Many were amazed when they saw him – beaten and bloodied, so disfigured one would scarcely know he was a person. And he will again startle many nations. Kings will stand speechless in his presence. For they will see what they had not previously been told about; they will understand what they had not heard about.”
Isaiah 53 undeniably resonances Jesus’ death as well as other prophecies I have read thus far in the Bible.
There are a few issues I am having here. One is I cannot understand if Jesus is God why he never said it DIRECTLY. I have read the NT, not fully although working to it, and Jesus does state some things which sound like he is God (Matthew 22:41) however he never directly says it. John does (John 1:1) – it is just that when reading the Old Testament, God is always making it apparent who He is. (Ex. 20:2 Jer. 32:27 Isaiah 43:3 so on) so that people know He is the one true God – and it the New Testament it doesn’t. One seems to follow (OT) and the other (NT) is entirely dissimilar. Not only that, Isaiah 43:10 says there is no other God (and I do understand in the Christian eye that Jesus isn’t separate from God) However, this leads to another inquiry.
Who is Jesus praying to in:
Matthew 26:42 “My Father! If this cup cannot be taken away until I drink it, your will be done.”
And when the devil had tempted him Jesus said:
Luke 4:12 “Do not test the Lord your God”
At times, everything seems to fit then at others it doesn’t.
I just wanted to get a Christians perspective on this matter, a response(s) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
