ArchivedPeople Of The Book problem...Hi Believer, I am not here to argue about that rather than inform you guys of the Quran's point of view of things. Bushmaster wanted to understand what the people of the book mean in the Quran and had many questions and I answered according to my understanding of the Quran. No where have I tried to include the Bible. Again believer, that is not the topic here my friend. It's about the Quran's point of view only. See, you CAN judge the Quran according to your understanding of the bible, but the ultimate fact is that you can only understand the Quran only when you read the Quran itself. The Quran does call you people pagans and you disagree, I have no problem with that. You may want to convince yoursleves that Jesus is God, but again this is not what we are talking about over here. Hi Carol, First of all, God did not give permission to Muhammad to learn from the Jews. When the word "confirm" or "verify" is used . It implies that indeed these things have happened and that the people of the book indeed received prophets. Nothing in the meaning imply that the message of the people of the book nowadays is true at all, and that is because of the other many Quranic verses that affirm that the message has been corrupted and things were added and deleted and Jesus was taken as God. Secondly, reading it from the Quran's point of view and assuming Muhammad (pbuh) to be the prophet of God would not suggest that every time the prophet disagreed with the Jews he accused them of corrupting their message. Reading it from the Quran's point of view, it is God who accused them of such thing not the prophet. You are looking at it through your own interpretation as a Christian not as someone who wants to understand the Quran and what it stands for. First of all Carol this verse has nothing to do with Jesus. It refers to the Muslims who were kicked out of Mecca, the very Muslims who's money and houses were taken away from them and sold.Secondly, the verse deals with forbidding Muslims from attacking synagogues and churches Again, according to the Quran, is it the only pure word of God that exist till this day. The confirmation is not a confirmation of the book rather than the true supposed message. Many verses I have quoted above show that. Muhammad (pbuh) as a prophet of God did not need to confirm his message with Jews and Christians, because as a prophet of God he has better knowledge, after all , God almight knows everything. and how did not the Quran say that the books that you have today are mostly corrupted? The Quran affirmed that. Please Carol, it is very essential to read the whole Quran as a unit. Didn't the Quran say: [3] There is among them a section who distort the Book with their tongues: (As they read) you would think it is a part of the Book, but it is no part of the Book; and they say, "That is from Allah," but it is not from Allah: It is they who tell a lie against Allah, and (well) they know it! also read: [5] Allah did aforetime take a covenant from the Children of Israel, and we appointed twelve captains among them. And Allah said: "I am with you: if ye (but) establish regular prayers, practise regular charity, believe in my messengers, honour and assist them, and loan to Allah a beautiful loan, verily I will wipe out from you your evils, and admit you to gardens with rivers flowing beneath; but if any of you, after this, resisteth faith, he hath truly wandered from the path or rectitude." [5] But because of their breach of their covenant, We cursed them, and made their hearts grow hard; they change the words from their (right) places and forget a good part of the message that was sent them, nor wilt thou cease to find them- barring a few - ever bent on (new) deceits: but forgive them, and overlook (their misdeeds): for Allah loveth those who are kind. [5] From those, too, who call themselves Christians, We did take a covenant, but they forgot a good part of the message that was sent them: so we estranged them, with enmity and hatred between the one and the other, to the day of judgment. And soon will Allah show them what it is they have done. [5] O people of the Book! There hath come to you our Messenger, revealing to you much that ye used to hide in the Book, and passing over much (that is now unnecessary): There hath come to you from Allah a (new) light and a perspicuous Book, [5] Wherewith Allah guideth all who seek His good pleasure to ways of peace and safety, and leadeth them out of darkness, by His will, unto the light,- guideth them to a path that is straight. [5] In blasphemy indeed are those that say that Allah is Christ the son of Mary. Say: "Who then hath the least power against Allah, if His will were to destroy Christ the son of Mary, his mother, and all every - one that is on the earth? For to Allah belongeth the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between. He createth what He pleaseth. For Allah hath power over all things." [5] (Both) the Jews and the Christians say: "We are sons of Allah, and his beloved." Say: "Why then doth He punish you for your sins? Nay, ye are but men,- of the men he hath created: He forgiveth whom He pleaseth, and He punisheth whom He pleaseth: and to Allah belongeth the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between: and unto Him is the final goal (of all)" [5] O People of the Book! Now hath come unto you, making (things) clear unto you, Our Messenger, after the break in (the series of) our messengers, lest ye should say: "There came unto us no bringer of glad tidings and no warner (from evil)": But now hath come unto you a bringer of glad tidings and a warner (from evil). And Allah hath power over all things. And of course, People of the book have indeed received the true revelation from God but it is not the same according to the Quranic verses above. As I said above, it is not that the books you have to day are confirmed rather than the message is the same with distortions among the OT itself and self appointed inspired people who wrote the NT. That is according to the Quran and I am not here to argue about it rather than present the view itself. You can read more: [4] O People of the Book! Commit no excesses in your religion: Nor say of Allah aught but the truth. Christ Jesus the son of Mary was (no more than) a messenger of Allah, and His Word, which He bestowed on Mary, and a spirit proceeding from Him: so believe in Allah and His messengers. Say not "Trinity" : desist: it will be better for you: for Allah is one Allah: Glory be to Him: (far exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belong all things in the heavens and on earth. And enough is Allah as a Disposer of affairs. [4] Christ disdaineth nor to serve and worship Allah, nor do the angels, those nearest (to Allah): those who disdain His worship and are arrogant,-He will gather them all together unto Himself to (answer). AND THEN [4] But to those who believe and do deeds of righteousness, He will give their (due) rewards,- and more, out of His bounty: But those who are disdainful and arrogant, He will punish with a grievous penalty; Nor will they find, besides Allah, any to protect or help them. [4] O mankind! verily there hath come to you a convincing proof from your Lord: For We have sent unto you a light (that is) manifest. What else do we read from the Quran? [5] And We have revealed to you the Book with the truth (Quran), verifying(or confirming) what is before it of the Book and a guardian over it, therefore judge between them by what Allah has revealed, and do not follow their low desires (to turn away) from the truth that has come to you; for every one of you did We appoint a law and a way, and if Allah had pleased He would have made you (all) a single people, but that He might try you in what He gave you, therefore strive with one another to hasten to virtuous deeds; to Allah is your return, of all (of you), so He will let you know that in which you differed; It can't get clearer than that. WHat else does the Quran say about those who wrote the NT? [57] Then, in their wake, We followed them up with (others of) Our messengers: We sent after them Jesus the son of Mary, and bestowed on him the Gospel; and We ordained in the hearts of those who followed him Compassion and Mercy. But the Monasticism which they invented for themselves, We did not prescribe for them: (We commanded) only the seeking for the Good Pleasure of Allah; but that they did not foster as they should have done. Yet We bestowed, on those among them who believed, their (due) reward, but many of them are rebellious transgressors. peace |
