Some say it is obedience to the Qur'an, others say it's the Qur'an and the Sunna.. ie what Allah says and what Muhammed did and said. Now, they may not contradict each other to a Muslim, but what of the extra things Muhammed did? Are they also required of the "good Muslim" to aquire Paradise without hell first?
It is obedience to ALL of God's Books and Messengers.
Extra things such as?
There are five traits of a good muslim:
1] 5 prayers daily
2] annual charity
3] Hajj [Pilgramage to Makkah]
4] faith in the One and Only God.
5] Fasting during the month of Ramadan.
Care to explain why?
Unlike Christians, we only give Da'wah to those interested. We don't stand on street corners waving signs and brochures in people's faces asking the question ARE YOU SAVED??? We also do not go door to door like some sects *coughmormoncough* and I don't think we have evangelists.
Are you really? Then if you are concious about your worth before the Almighty UNREACHABLE ALLAH, why can't you tell that you are accepted in His paradise? No because YOU HAVE NO IDEA! How are you respnsible for your salvation, if you don't know how sin seperates you from the Holy one. How do you account your good deeds and bad deeds? Even the moment you get pissed at Christian posters here, you think evil, you fill up the bad deed scales. Who is going to pay for them? You! But you don't know how full they are! You don't have no salvation buddy, because IT IS NOT PROMISED TO YOU! You only have a false hope, sad to say! Do you pray 5 times a day? Do you fast? Do you give zekat? Honestly do you? Do you complete the five pillars? Christians also believe the said salvation verse you brought from Quran, now what? You conveniently skipping the verse where it says, Allah does what He pleases with you!
I can't tell whether I am accepted into paradise. Nobody can tell. One can only hope that his good deeds are doing him some good...
We are responsible for our own salvation because the Qur'an and the Sunnah tells us what is right and wrong. It is also common sense. We do not feel the need to say that a prophet died on a cross is our ticket into heaven.
Did I ever say I was going to heaven? I would like to see the post that I said that. I don't know, but I'm doing my best. I may think evil, but according to the Qur'an, if you intend to do a bad deed with your heart, but you do not do the bad deed, it counts as a good deed. Frankly, I have some choice words I would like to say to StarJade, but I haven't said them, and I will never say them to him.
Do I pray five times a day? yes. Do I fast? I will during Ramadan. Do I give Zakat? yes. Have I completed the five pillars? Except for the Hajj and fasting, because my first Ramadan is coming up and I want to do my Hajj as soon as I can, yes. I do.
God does not do what he pleases with ME. God gave us free will, allowing us to make our own choices. God knows, however, where I will end up. This is called Divine Predestination
Bushmaster, Why are you making this personal? Why are you asking me about whether I pray five times a day or give Zakat? Although I do, your attitude seems a bit... shall I say aggressive?
How do you know Christianity is NOT a way of life? You don't. You should read some of Jesus' teachings on the mountain, where are depth studies?
I was once a Christian Bushmaster. Most of my Christian friends smoke, drink, swear, have premarital sex, and are disobedient to their parents. Yet they still claim to be faithful Christians. Is this the Christian way of life? I don't think so. Christianity only requires an emotional conversion. Church isn't even mandantory! Neither is regular prayer or holidays!
Good for you, tell me when you figure out if your best is enough for the God Almighty to forgive your worship in Satan!... <--- This doesn't mean you currently do worship Satan! You had done in the past. WE BELIEVE You HUNGER for the TRUE INTIMATE LOVING PERSONAL GOD!
Since you apparently forgot you were Muslim once... I will remind you that once you convert to Islam with your heart, God forgives ALL of your sins. My Muslim friends say that God has forgiven me for my Devil worshipping, and if you would like, I could talk to the Imam at my Masjid and quote from him that God forgave me.
I do not hunger for anything, as I have found God and have a spiritual relationship unlike anything Christianity gave me. When I converted, God took away my depression. That is more of a sign than nessicary!
To Carol:
Nobody can ever be sure of his or her ticket to Heaven. Only God knows. That is the Muslim belief. To say that you are going to heaven is playing God.
