ArchivedThe God of the Old Testament is the same God of the NewMoses was an Israelite and a Jew; Christian's are adobted into the family of Abraham and through adoption (Gal 4:5, Eph 1:5) are the possessors of the promises God made to Abraham and his seed, Jesus Christ. The old covenant is becoming obsolete, but until the old covenant is complete in all its provisions it remains viable. God promised Abraham his descendents would control all the territory from Damascus to the River of Egypt, which the Jews have never fully controlled. This is yet future. God promised David that the scepter would never leave his line, until Jesus rules from Jerusalem this promise is yet to be fulfilled. The sacrifice of Christ fulfills the sacrificial demands of the Old Covenant for "without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sin", however, other aspects of the old are yet future. |
