Clues to who the 2 Witnesses are
Hi, I'm new here Looks like a good place.
This '2 Witnesses' question pops up on Christian forums quite often. Depending on how you interpret it could turn your entire prophetic outlook upside down.
Here are a few clues as to who the Two Witnesses are:
Clue 1. They are specifically described as 'Gods Witnesses.' This honour has only ever been given to two before - Israel and the Church. (Isaiah 43:1,10 & Acts 1:8)
Clue 2. God will give them extraordinary supernatural power. Such impartation was especially promised to two entities in the past. They were Israel and the Church. (Deuteronomy 11:25, 28:7 & Acts 1:8)
Clue 3. Their identity is categorically (but symbolically) revealed. "These are the two Olive Trees." The significance is well known in scripture: they refer to Israel and the Church. (Romans 11:17-26)
Clue 4. They are the 'Two Lampstands,' and yet they are one. The symbolic meaning of 'Lampstand' has already been pointed out by 'Threads of light.' It is the Church! But I'm not so sure that it just represents 2 of the 7 churches. The 'Two Witnesses' are, I believe, the last days (redeemed) Israel, and the last days Church.
